              OKALOOSA COUNTY MIDDLE SCHOOL

                           ATHLETIC CONFERENCE

 

                          GOLF RULES & REGULATIONS - 2010

 

1.         Starting times to be determined by the home school.

2.         All dual matches will be 9 holes. Quad (4 teams) matches shall be 6 holes.

3.         All players will play from the red tees.

4.         USGA rules will apply to all matches, unless set aside by FSHAA or Okaloosa County Middle School Athletic Conference regulations.  Boys and girls play by the same rules.

5.         A team will consist of 5 players with the lowest 4 scores counting.

6.         A match shall be conducted on a stroke play basis. The team having the lowest aggregate score at the conclusion of play shall be the winner. The maximum score for a single hole shall be double  par.

7.         Each player should have a scorecard and keep his/her score and their opponent’s score on that card.  Each player is responsible for their score hole-by-hole.  Both players must sign each scorecard certifying that their scores are correct. A player who signs for his/her incorrect lower score on a hole shall be disqualified. Players should compare scorecards and verify that all scores are correct before signing the card.

8.         The ball will be played “Down” from tee to green, including sand traps.

9.         Before play begins players should identify their ball to the foursome by manufacturer, number, or personal mark.

10.     FHSAA regulations:

a.            All participants must abide by the dress code as established by the golf course on which the match is played.

b.           The use of caddies, including teammates, is prohibited.

c.            Motorized carts are prohibited. Pull carts are permitted.

d.           A player who deliberately throws any piece of equipment during competition shall be disqualified from further competition and suspended for the next match. (OCMSAC)

e.            Protests of contests shall not be allowed

f.            Coaches only will be allowed to give advice under the following provisions:

i)              Only one designated team coach may give advice.

ii)            USGA Rule 8 entitled “definition of Advice” must be used.

iii)          Advice may be given only when all balls of the players in a group are no longer in play.

iv)          Coaches who elect to advise their players during matches must not make rulings that are matters that are the responsibility of  the Match Director.

v)            No players, parents or spectators shall be allowed to coach or give advice during a match.

11.       Parents of participating golfers and spectators must remain in the rough or on golf paths and 50 feet away from the golfers.

12.       The All- conference golf team shall consist of 3-2-2-2-1-1-1-1-1-1.

13.       The Ethics of Golf should be observed at all times.

14.       The time and place of the County Tournament will be determined later.  Red tees will be played by both groups.

15.       The home team will call in results to the newspaper.

 

 

 

 

Athlete/Parent Information

The golf team does not have try-outs or "cut" players.

Members of the golf team should...

  • Maintain a 2.0 grade point average.

  • Act as ladies and gentlemen.

  • Notify Coach Posey in advance if you are not able to attend practice.

  • Have an interest in the game of golf, and an interest in improving your game.

Additionally, denim jeans are NOT allowed at golf team practices or tournaments.
