Lewis Middle School Band

CHANGE OF COMMAND!

Several times since I have been here, Eglin AFB has received a new commander.  So I know that many of our military families are accustomed to the transition that goes along with a change of command.  Now I need to announce that the Lewis Band will also be undergoing a change in leadership.  The band director job at Davidson Middle School recently came open and today I have decided to accept that position. In the next few days Mr. Mikel will begin the search for a new Lewis band director.  I am confident that the fine reputation of our band and our school will attract many qualified applicants and that the Lewis band will be in very good hands when school starts.

This was definitely a very difficult decision for me and was only made after much prayer.  My five years at Lewis have been a tremendous blessing to me and to my family.  The Lewis administrators, teachers, parents, and students have all been wonderful.  I have been privileged to be a part of such a fine group.  I will miss seeing all of you on a daily basis but I know that you will all embrace the next director as only the Lewis "family" can.  Students should know that my spies are everywhere so I hope that no one is planning to slack off in the future!  I expect to hear nothing but continued great things from the Lewis Band.  My parting gift to all the band students will be to join you in hoping that the next director does not like to use practice sheets!!
